In July 2023, Shelby Farrell set out to run the Fastest Known Time on Vermont’s Long Trail.

The Long Trail is the oldest long trail in the country, running roughly 273 miles from the Canadian border to the Massachusetts border with 66,000 feet of vertical gain.

Farrell had gone to college in Vermont and lived there for seven years after graduating. She had made memories in the Green Mountains and had countless personal connections to this project. What she didn’t realize was that the decision to chase this dream would change her life.
