Most great trail races are a delicate balance of beauty and brutality. That’s certainly the case with Pennsylvania’s Call of the Wilds Mountain Fest.
This year’s event takes place on October 20 in Little Pine State Park in Waterville, Pennsylvania. It’s the peak time for fall foliage in the scenic area.
That’s the “beauty” part.
But the event will take place on some of the toughest trails in Pennsylvania, featuring thousands of feet of vert.
Hence the “brutality.”
The Call of the Wilds features a 50K and 25K course. The organizers caution these are not beginner courses and participants should train accordingly. The 50K has nearly 8,000 feet of vertical, while the 25K has more than 5,000 feet of gain.
