Bruins Great Chara Takes on 50K Race in MA

It looks like Bruins great Zdeno Chara still has that competitive fire.

The Stanley Cup-winning defenseman might be retired from professional hockey, but now he’s scratching that competitive itch by taking part in trail racing.

Chara, who stands 6-feet, 9-inches tall, recently took on the Watuppa Trail 50K in Fall River, Massachusetts, finishing in just over five hours, good enough for eighth place overall.

“Tried a new distance today,” Chara wrote on his Instagram account. “My first Ultra Watuppa trail 50K race.”

His 50K came just weeks after he completed the Boston Marathon in 3:38.

Keep an eye out for this towering hockey great the next time you toe the start line at your local trail race.
