Western Massachusetts running company and race promoter 4Run3 closed its doors on Monday, May 13, citing bankruptcy in a post on social media.
The business, located in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts, provided shoe fittings, training programs, and hosted several races throughout the year, including a trail run series that included 13 weekly trail meetups between early April and late June.
In their post on social media, owners Tim and Jill Murphy thanked their running community for their support and repeatedly apologized for closing the business.
4Run3 faced significant obstacles right from the start. They were shut down by COVID in March 2020, shortly before they were set to officially open.
Unfortunately, they said high operating costs, a large retail space, and piling up bills finally caught up to them.
“We have financially lost everything,” they said in the statement. “Our home, our business, our everything. We are truly devastated.”
They said they hope the 4Run3 community of runners will continue.
“Keep it going if you can,” they wrote, “for it is more than a community, it is a family.”
